Convo typos

Imagine my dismay to see so many AP style and other errors in the JMC spring 2014 convocation packet. Oh dear. Apparently they didn’t pay attention to these kinds of things in JOUR 61, MCOM 100W, or PR 190.

But you can benefit from their carelessness by identifying and correcting their errors. I’ll add 2 extra credit points to your grade if you add a comment to this blog post that identifies and corrects one of their errors.

One correction per person, please, so several of you can share the “wealth.”

JMC convocation Good job! Thanks to all who suggested corrections.

    Not should be “note”

  2. “Not” is supposed to be “note” in the Tickets section. “please NOTE there may be an additional…”

  3. Good catch! +2

In AP Style, the location would end in San Jose, Calif. because CA is the United States Postal Service abbreviation.

    Time should be
    Time: 5:00 p.m.

There should be a comma after 22 on the date to separate the day from the year.

  7. Thursday, May 22 2014 the date is written incorrectly. Should be May 22, 2014

  8. The time should read “5:00 p.m.”

  9. For the time, it should be 5 p.m, not 5:00 p.m.

  10. 5.00 pm should be 5:00 p.m

  11. should be 5:00 p.m. not 5.00pm

    • You’ve got the “p.m.” part right (+2 pts.), but something else is still wrong. See the complete correction, posted by “yelagadawadi,” above.

  12. “Please note that there may be an additional fee if bought on the day.” is a poorly written sentence that’s missing a subject. It could instead read, “Please note that there may be an additional fee if tickets are bought on the day of the convocation.”

The websites are inconsistent. The website under the ticket section is missing the www.
